Enjoy your retirement Steve

An overdue (but for good reasons and now safe) Retirement Celebration for our former Compliance Manager, Steve Walkden .

Steve had been a loyal Customer for over 15 years and has taken us to Dartington Hall, South Devon College and then to the Donkey Sanctuary.

Steve attempted retirement back in 2017 but Kev Sherwood  and Kevin Wiltshire  had talked him into working with us at Sherwoods and leading our Compliance Team. Steve implemented a transition firstly to a new ISO9001:2015 Accreditation working in partnership with QMS and then in 2020 during lockdown, we achieved for the very first time our 14001:2015 Environmental Accreditation. Steve officially retired towards the end of 2020 and we have been impatiently waiting an opportunity to recognise Steve’s amazing achievements at Sherwoods.

Steve joined our team at Dainton Park on Friday last week as we supported for the 9th year running, Charlie’s Trophy. This event is run by Martin Smith  (non exec Director for Repair Wizard) – and this year has raised a staggering £12,000 taking the total to above £120,000 in total over the past 9 years.  Team Sherwoods finished a respectable 6th out of 40 teams, I am unreliably informed that we lost by 1 shot – Kevin Wiltshire blames his new hip and his age for that 1 shot! After the golf, Steve’s wife Hazel joined us for a meal and we presented Steve with a leaving gift of a 2 night Stay, 3 rounds of Golf on the Championship Course, unlimited Spa experience and Dinner Bed & Breakfast for the duration at the wonderful Dartmouth Golf & Country Club. (Hazel plays golf too for those thinking poor Hazel!)
